Spring is around the corner, and you can take advantage of the nice weather with Mount Vernon by Bike, Boat, or Bus! Mount Vernon by Bike, Boat, or Bus lets you tour George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Choose your adventure to Mount Vernon, like cruising down the Potomac by riverboat, pedaling a bike along the scenic Mount Vernon Trail, or hopping on a luxury shuttle down the National Park Service’s George Washington Memorial Parkway.
The riverboat option is open daily from April to October. The boat departs the Alexandria Marina at 10 a.m. and departs the Mount Vernon Dock at 4 p.m. The site’s bicycle option is available daily from April to October and is a self-guided, eight-mile-long tour each way. This option requires a 24-hour-advance reservation. Lastly, the bus option is available Saturdays and Sundays between Memorial Day and Labor Day, departing Alexandria at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and departing Mount Vernon at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Mix and match your modes of transportation on the way to the site and back for extra memories! All tour tickets include tickets to the estate.
