Looking for a new holiday tradition? Try experiencing what Christmas was like in the time of our Founding Fathers by going to Christmas Illuminations at Mount Vernon.
Take a stroll through the estate while being serenaded by local choirs, visit Aladdin the camel, and chat with re-enactors from the First Virginia Regiment. George Washington, “himself”, will also be on-site to greet holiday guests to his ancestral home.
Watch as colonial artisans demonstrate the 18th-century process of creating chocolate. Keep toasty by warming up by a bonfire, enjoy hot chocolate or cider, and visit the Museum and Education Center (open from 5:30-8PM). Additional food will be available for purchase.
Christmas Illuminations at Mount Vernon is being presented December 16th and 17th at the Mount Vernon estate. The estate is located at 200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon, VA 22121.
